Albrecht D\u00fcrer was fascinated by Klausen as early as 1494- and to this day, the romantic artist\u2019 town remains as charming as ever. As a member of “Borghi pi\u00f9 belli d\u2019Italia”<\/a>, Klausen has been recognized as one of Italy\u2019s most impressive historic towns.\u00a0<\/p>

Klausen\u2019s historic old town enchants visitors with its narrow, cobblestone streets and pastel- colored townhouses. Ornate bay windows and facades reflect the town\u2019s rich history. Today, charming shops, caf\u00e9s, and restaurants<\/a> invite you to linger and enjoy.\u00a0<\/p>

The road to the Latzfons Cross (2,311m), the highest pilgrimage site in South Tyrol and erected on the south face of the Kassian Peak, is the oldest pilgrimage trail in South Tyrol. The mountain refuge hut, close to the church at an elevation of 2,305m, has provided countless pilgrims and hikers with refuge and sanctuary over the years. The view stretches over to the Langkofel, the Grohmann Peak, the Kesselkogel and the Rosengarten.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The path shows its most beautiful side in autumn and many farms open their cuisine and cellar during the “T\u00f6rggele”-Season . But also in spring and early summer, the wide rage of vegetation and the everyday rural culture along the way offer an incomparable scenic charm. The Keschtnweg is a easy, long-distance hiking trail of more than 90 km, which can be divided into individual sections that are also worthwhile as day hikes.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The mountain mine<\/a> in Villanders was one of the most important mining areas in Tyrol during the Middle Ages. After it closed at the beginning of the 20th century, it fell out of memory. Through the work of the culture heritage and museum associations of Villanders, the mine has been given an overhaul in recent years and is now open to the public as a visitors\u2019 attraction.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Three small churches, church of Saint Gertraud, Saint Nikolaus and Saint Magdalena, built in the 12th and 15th century in an incredibly beautiful location with a fantastic view over the Eisack Valley. Visitors will be surprised by the high level of artistic skill of the late-Gothic frescoes. Dreikirchen can only be reached on foot along beautiful hiking trails for young and old.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

When autumn begins in the southern Eisacktal valley, it starts also the so-called T\u00f6rggele season. Klausen celebrates the beginning of this ancient tradition with a big festival. A weekend in September, the artist’s city Klausen dedicates itself entirely to the traditions of the “T\u00f6rggelen” and transforms itself into some kind of outdoor tavern. Through the streets of the town, gastronomic stands offer various South Tyrolean specialties, such as Kn\u00f6del, Schlutzkrapfen, sausages with sauerkraut (fermented cabbage), doughnuts, Strauben and roasted chestnuts.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
